In English, we will be continuing to write short stories focusing on including adjectives, capital letters and full stops. In Maths, we will continue our learning of the place value of numbers but we extend this to numbers up to 100, we also look at measurement, money and time.

History - The Titanic

The children listened to a story about the Titanic. They then discussed the story and what happened. They shared their own thoughts and reflections. The children used some excellent vocabulary.

The children then understood and recognised what happened on the ship for the rich and poor people by sorting and discussing the images.

English - The Enormous Turnip

As part of the work to engage the children, widen their vocabulary and develop their knowledge to write a story, they made predictions, wrote short descriptions, matched images and descriptions as well as writing their own version of the story where they substituted a vegetable.

Design Technology - Exploring moving levers

As part of the work in DT this term, the children have learnt how to create their own simple moving lever. This came after using children's toys with levers and pop up books.

Art - final pieces

After a term of learning how what primary and secondary colours and how to use them, the children have practised and rehearsed how to paint with watercolours and poster paint to create images of flowers. The final results are wonderful. We are proud of you Year One.
