Term 6

Term 6

Welcome back!

Welcome back to our last term of Year 2. We cannot believe this is our last term and what a very busy term with lots of fun activities it is going to be.

In History we will be continuing with The Great Fire of London, learning about the UK capital cities in Geography and learning about animals and their habitats in Science. Whilst in Religious Education we are looking at ‘Incarnation’ and how important Jesus is to Christians and in Design Technology the children will be exploring axles and wheels in preparation of making their own model vehicle that can move.

Our PE days have had a slight change this term and will be on Tuesday and Thursday.

We will also begin to prepare the children for their transition into Year 3 and help them to feel settled ready for their move into lower key stage 2 in September.

With the weather improving and temperatures rising, please can all children come to school with drinks bottle everyday and a sun hat to wear during their breaktimes. Children can bring sun cream into school which they can apply themselves.

English

This week in English we are going to be looking at writing a set of instructions so the children worked in pairs to give each other instructions to follow.

Music

During Music this term the children are working on singing and understanding how important it is to sing in pitch to the music. This week in Music we were looking at how important it is to warm up our voices and our bodies before singing. Children found it funny pulling different faces and making silly sounds to help warm up our voices.

Geography

In Geography this week we were looking at maps of the United Kingdom's capital cities and identifying famous landmarks.

Ice Skating

The children were really excited this week as they got to go ice skating at Planet Ice in Peterborough. They all had a fantastic time and were excited to tell Ms Richardson all about their experiences.

Water safety

On Thursday 15th it was Water Safety day and the children participated in a class discussion and activities to talk about the importance of water safety.
