Term 5
Welcome back! We hope you all had a wonderful Easter break and were able to enjoy some sunshine. This term the children will become Historians and explore the event of The Great Fire of London that took place in the 17th century. The children are really excited about this subject and are looking forward to identifying the causes and the impact it had on society. In science we are learning all about animals including humans, we shall be looking at what animals need to survive along with the importance of exercise and a healthy diet.
The texts that we shall be reading this term include :'Little Red Riding Hood' and 'The Way Back Home'. The children will be using these texts to write detailed character descriptions and to write their own stories.
In Maths this term we shall be focussing on fractions and time.
PE- Every Monday and Tuesday
Please ensure all children have the suitable PE kit for both indoors and outdoors. All long hair must be tied back and earrings should be removed
Fractions!
In maths this week we have continued our learning on fractions. The children have been counting in fractions using pictures to help them. they can now count in halves, thirds and quarters.
Art
In art we have been looking at how artists use different types of lines to create realistic and unrealistic drawings. We then worked as artists to recreate drawings using sketching pencils and pens.
Music
In music this week, we have continued to learn how to play the ocarina. We have applied our knowledge of all the notes we have learned so far and can now play 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star'.
Science
In science we have been looking at different life cycles. Today the children were introduced to some caterpillars. We will be observing the caterpillars over the next few weeks to observe how they change and look at each part of their life cycle.
Quarters!
In maths this week we have been finding one quarter of numbers. We used cubes to helps us the share the whole into 4 equal groups.
Computing!
In computing we have been learning how to use Microsoft Word to add text. We have found out what different keys do such as space bar, enter, back space and caps lock.
