Lincoln Cathedral - Church School Festival

A fantastic day !

All of Year 6 travelled to the Church School Festival at Lincoln Cathedral to be part of the wider group of schools and their pupils and teachers.

We processed our school banner, took part in workshops, singing, workshops as well as exploring the education centre.

it was a day reflecting spiritually on Self, Others, Beyond and the beauty and scale of the Cathedral too!

Shakespeare at Tolthorpe

A phenomenal day out!

We travelled to Stamford where the Shakespeare, open-air theatre is where we learned all about the comedy: 'A Midsummer-night's dream,' by William Shakespeare.

In the setting of this beautiful house, we met a seamstress, stage technicians, a director and carpenters who were building vast sets. We saw real careers in the entertainment sector in action!

We then workshopped a soliloquy by the mischievous fairy Puck!

We even performed in on the stage in front of the other groups.

What an opportunity!

Computing - websites

Drawing together out learning about the internet this year, we have been evaluating and analysing the manner in which websites are organised for the purpose and the user.

Here we are, designing our own home pages for our very own websites!

The Poetry Slam - Shakespeare’s sonnet 18

Applying techniques from our day at Tolthorpe, here we are performing Sonnet 18 by William Shakespeare. Some of our class even went through to represent us in the KS2 Poetry SLAM!

Speak out and stay safe NSPCC workshop

Over the last two terms, we have been looking at the importance of the NSPCC's campaign for children to 'Speak out, stay safe.'

This journey began with a collective worship and a PSHE lesson. Today, experts from the NSPCC visited us to talk to us about the working of the charity and in particular the Child Line service.

Should children be banned from drinking fizzy drinks?

In our English unit of writing to discuss, we have been considering the impact of fizzy drinks - please go and see our published work soon when it is put on display at St Thomas' Church !
