Term 2
Year 1 have been busy bees since being back at school for Term 2. The grown ups are extremely proud of the hard work and effort everybody has put in already!
Our trip to the church
Year 1 enjoyed their first trip of the year to our local St Thomas' Church. We were able to retrieve our geography learning by identifying human and physical features during our walk there. When we got to the church, we were able to retrieve our RE learning about Christianity. We met Reverend Jane and Trevor at the church who read the Christmas story to us and were able to look at the Nativity Scene whilst listening to the story. We loved our visit and look forward to working hard towards our own nativity performance.
Maths
We have been using manipulatives in our maths learning to continue our knowledge of using part, part whole models. We then were able to apply this knowledge when learning Number Bonds to 10! We have also enjoyed learning new songs to help us with our counting skills.
Music
We have enjoyed continuing our music learning and using percussion instruments. We have been able to use the instruments to recreate the songs we have been studying. We have explored tempo, pitch and pulse.
Geography
In our Geography learning we have enjoyed exploring maps and our school. We were able to follow simple maps to different points in our school. We have also studied aerial photographs to determine where we are in the school. We enjoyed pretending we were birds looking down on the school as aerial photos are also known as birds eye views.
We were able to use directional language to get to specific points our our map. We even created our own maps for Mr Adcock to follow!
