Term 1
Welcome to Term 1
This term we will be giving opportunities for the children to settle into their new learning environments, form new friendships and begin to follow our school rules and routines.
This week the children have been reading the story of The Little Red Hen. They enjoyed retelling the story using masks and props and were very excited on Thursday to make their own loaf of bread. Steve from Asda came into school to help the children follow a recipe. Everyone enjoyed measuring out the ingredients and kneading the dough. The best part was eating the bread once it had been baked. Well done Love class.
In our Maths learning this week, the children have been learning about patterns. Everyone had the opportunity to create their own repeating pattern using Autumn objects. The children created fantastic patterns and could describe them to their friends.
In our first ever PE lesson, the children have been negotiating space and listening to instructions. They all took part in games linked to people who help us and could create different actions. After the children used the trim trail to practice their balancing.
The children have been very excited to be learning their set one sounds with Fred the Frog this week. We have even had some children beginning to blend with the adult's support. Fantastic work Reception!
The children have settled into Love Class brilliantly. This week the children have been reading the Colour Monster and identifying different emotions. During choosing time, we have had brilliantly colouring of the monster, creating different faces and emotions using natural objects and when outside we have been paddling in the stream. It really has been a wonderful week.
