Term 4
Term 4
This term the children will be learning about different transport and their purposes. We will be exploring a range of non-fiction texts and recognising how these books share information and facts with the reader. Reception will also be looking at how they can protect the environment and think about the small changes they could make, for example walking to school rather than travelling by car or recycling rubbish. This term the children will also have the opportunity to visit St Thomas' church and learn about the Easter story. More information will be sent out closer to the time.

The children were very excited this week as they have been learning all about Pancake day and Shrove Tuesday. The children could explain why Shrove Tuesday is a special event in the Christian calendar and that we make pancakes before Lent. Each child had the opportunity to decorate their own pancakes before tasting. This was an activity the children really enjoyed and they each got to choose their toppings. As a class the children created their own pancake and observed Mrs Harris flip it in the pan successfully.
This term the children have been learning about different instruments and the families they belong too. The children have identified different instruments and made links to how they are played. In our outdoor area, the children have been creating their own pieces of music using items from the mud kitchen. This has included making a drum kit which they played as part of a band. After the children created lyrics to their music.
World Book Day
Reception enjoyed dressing up as their favourite book character this week. They all could share their favourite book and had a visit to the library. Take a look at some of the children's wonderful costumes.
Spring
Reception have been searching for signs of Spring all Term and have been very excited to see our beautiful daffodils in full bloom. The children have been using oil pastels and paint to create pictures of different flowers and even used forks to create a tulip effect. In our outdoor area, the children have been planting pumpkin seeds, broccoli plants and onions.
