Term 5
Welcome back to Term 5
Hoping everyone had a lovely Easter break!
This term we are going to begin by reading the text 'The Magic Porridge Pot'. In Maths will be focussing on multiplication and division, in Art we will be painting using different colours and shades. We will be learning all about common plants in Science and we look forward to sharing lots of information to parents during our class assembly. So much learning to fit in and hopefully some sunny weather involved too!
Keep a look out for lots of photos of our learning.
Science - Are all plants and trees the same?
Geography - What is the United Kingdom?
Art - How do paintings express mood?
Computing - How can computers help us draw?
PE- How can you improve your co-ordination?
How is challenging yourself going to improve you?
PSHE - Does everyone have a strength?
RE - What do places of worship show about people's belief in their God?
Music - How does singing make people feel?
Art - Mixing primary and secondary colours
In our Art lesson this week, the children have mixed colours to make the secondary colours. They were quick to use the vocabulary of primary (red, blue and yellow) and secondary (green, purple and orange).
Trip to Skegness Aquarium and beach
Science - identifying common flowering plants
Outside, the children searched for common plants. They were recognised some from photos and then discussed what they looked like before searching the school grounds for them. Many were found and we all then recognised how God has created such a beautiful world.
Maths - counting in 10s
Using the tens frames and counters, the children chanted counting in 10s. They could count and calculate how many counters there would be by the number of 10s frames.
English - Freeze framing emotions and ordering the events of the story
The children were brilliant at showing how the different characters felt at various points in the story. They demonstrated a great understanding too. Then using the images, they were able to order the events and explain what happened.
Reflective Garden
The children enjoyed a story and prayer whilst being in the Reflective Garden. They were so thoughtful in their thanks to God.
PE - Running various distances and speeds
In PE, the children were looking and learning how to run short distances quickly. They used the cones to sprint between.
Geography - Identifying the countries that make up the United Kingdom
As part of the Geography work this term, the children have used the atlases to locate the UK and see that Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and England make up the United Kingdom. Great excitement was shown during this.
Computing - understanding drawing tools on Paint
The children were excited to use the laptops and learn that there is a programme called Paint. The children then learnt to use the brush tools to add shapes and change the colours of them. What a great session.
Maths - counting in 5s
The children had a super time using the different manipulatives to count in 5s. They used the tens frames and counters, hands and numicon. Great accuracy was used.
