Term 4

Term 4

Another busy term ahead and one where the children will be able to practise and rehearse their learning across the curriculum. A trip to the ice skating rink is in sight!

In Maths this term we embed our knowledge of length and height and enter the world of fractions - how exciting!

In English, we explore the fantastic story of Handa's Surprise and write our own versions of the story. We then move onto Goldilocks and the Three Bears at first before looking at an exciting twisted tale of Goldilocks and the Three Crocs.

Design Technology - Why are the users needs important when designing a product?

Science - How do the properties of materials dictate their uses?

Geography - Is life in the Arctic difficult?

PE (1) - Why is exercise important for your health?

PE (2) - Is learning the rules important?

RE - What does it mean to belong to the Ummah?

PSHE - Is risk always dangerous?

Science

In science, the children explored different materials using torches. They thoroughly enjoyed finding out if thy were transparent, translucent or opaque.

Maths

In maths the children have been learning about mass. They have used balancing scales to find the mass of different objects.

Design Technology

In design technology we have been looking at different bags and talking about their user and purpose. This is in preparation for designing and making our own bags suitable for an explorer.

Design Technology

The children have been practising different joining techniques. They exploring taping, gluing, stapling and sewing.

PE

In invasion we have been practicing our sending and receiving skills - including stopping goals like a goalkeeper. We worked in groups to try to score past our partner and our partner attempted to stop the goal by catching or deflecting the ball. Great sending and receiving techniques!
