Term 4
Term 4
Another busy term ahead and one where the children will be able to practise and rehearse their learning across the curriculum. A trip to the farm is in sight.
In Maths this term we embed our knowledge of place value to 50 adding, taking away and measuring length and mass.
In English, we will continue to understand how capital letters and full stops are used through the writing of instructions and writing simple stories based around Jack and the Beanstalk and The Gingerbread Man.
Have a look at our fantastic writing! We performed lots of role play and listening to the story before writing our own Jack and the Beanstalk stories.
History - How has farming changed over time?
We have begun our learning all about farming by looking at the differences between Arable and Pastoral farming. The children then explored what the term 'woad' meant and discovered the significance for Boston. They then learnt what it was used for and observed how it would die material and their hands blue! The children were fascinated about it's significance in the past and how it can be used today.
DT - Why is food tasting important?
The children have already begun to taste lots of different fruits and then draw and label them. We then voted for our favourite fruits. They are very excited to be making their own fruit kebabs!
Religious Education - How do Muslims live?
PSHE - Is everyone special?
We begin the term with understanding how to keep safe in the sun. The children explored what would be needed and not needed. They were confident in explaining why they selected certain equipment and clothing. Impressive knowledge. We have also been listening to the story of Elmer and then talking about what makes us special.
Science - Are we all the same or different
Music - How can we make a clean sound?
