Boston Barrier

Helping Us to Keep Safe

Working in partnership with the Boston Barrier Project, they have very kindly provided the whole school with high vis jackets for pupils. These are particularly important when we are out and about in the community, on walks around the local area or to St Thomas' church and when on visits further afield as part of our curriculum.

Here we are visiting Walsingham Abbey, proudly wearing our jackets.

Supporting the Curriculum

In Year Four they have been learning about rivers and settlements. As part of this learning, representatives from the Environment Agency who are working on the Boston Barrier visited us virtually to talk about some of their work.  Explaining their role in the community, in protecting our local area from further flooding along with sharing information on how we can keep ourselves safe in the event of a flood. We explored what causes flooding and how the floods in December 2013 occurred.

What would we need to pack in an emergency bag?
