    Term 4

Another busy term ahead and one where the children will be able to practise and rehearse their learning across the curriculum.

    Maths -

In Maths this term we embed our knowledge of place value to 50 adding, taking away and measuring length and mass.

Today, the Kindness Class were finding the difference between two numbers. We started by finding the difference between the amount of boys and girls in out class. We then used the cubes to make two towers to represent two different numbers. The children compared them visually to see the difference.

The Kindness class have been counting forwards and backwards between 20-50 today through multiples of 10. We started by creating 10 in out tens frame with Numicon and then practised out times tables.

    English -

In English, we will continue to understand how capital letters and full stops are used through the writing of instructions and writing simple stories based around Jack and the Beanstalk and The Gingerbread Man.

This week the children have read the story Jack and the Beanstalk. We have spent time understanding the vocabulary and today, we have retold the story through role play.

History -  How has farming changed over time?

We have begun our learning all about farming by looking at the differences between Arable and Pastoral farming. The children then explored what the term 'woad' meant and discovered the significance for Boston. They then learnt what it was used for and observed how it would die material and their hands blue! The children were fascinated about it's significance in the past and how it can be used today.

DT -  Why is food tasting important?

The Kindness Class loved our food tasting lesson this week! We tried melon, pineapple, strawberries, banana and apple. After we completed a tally chart which recorded the most and least popular fruit.

Religious Education - How do Muslims live?

This week we discussed the celebration of Eid and why it is important to Muslims. We explored the various ways families and friends come together to celebrate Eid and how they share with one another.

    PSHE - Is everyone special?

We begin the term with understanding how to keep safe in the sun.

Science - Are we all the same or different

This week in Science we explored different types of birds. We identified the various features each bird had, what makes them special and unique. We then matched the bird to the criteria and made our own.

Music - How can we make a clean sound?

P.E - Fitness - Why is exercise important to your health?

We have enjoyed the start of our new unit of learning all about fitness. We explored how exercise can affect our mood!

    Reading Workshop -

We were delighted to create a reading workshop in which so many people were able to attend. We read with adults, segmented and blended set 2 and set 3 sounds and even created bookmarks related to our English story - The Little Red Riding Hood. Thank you for coming to join us for an afternoon of reading activities.

    World Book Day 2026 -
