Term 4
We are really excited to share our learning with you for the term ahead!
Maths
We our Maths learning measuring and calculating perimeter. We will then move on to learning about fractions.
We practised measuring objects and then lines using a ruler. We made sure we checked our measurements were correct by lining up the start of the object or line with the 0 mark on the ruler.



English
We have been looking at the book 'Until I met Dudley', which is all about different inventions and machinery, and it tells us how things work. There is also a page for each item that tells us a silly way the machines could work.
We have been working on our own information texts, and have enjoyed developing our ideas together to think of creative ways that a laptop would work.
We looked at the page in How I met Dudley about hoovers.
We worked as a class to label the parts of the hoover.




Here we are exploring creating sentences using fronted adverbials.
This helps to make our writing even more engaging!
Guided Reading
This term our class text will be a non-fiction book all about Big Cats. This book will allow us to identify the different features of non-fiction texts as well as build our knowledge ready to apply our learning to writing our own non-chronological reports.
Design Technology
How is innovation important when designing a new product?
Working as Innovators, we will be designing and making aprons. This will enable us to further our knowledge of sewing and the use of different stitches and their purpose.
This week in DT, we looked at different types of aprons. We learnt about the similarities and differences between they styles.
We created a page in our books all about the aprons, including annotated sketches!



This week, we developed our hand-sewing - we learned how to do a running stitch, and backstitch.






French
Quel est la date du ton anniversaire?
Continuing to learn French, we will explore numbers and months as we are able to share our birthday with others in French.




This week, as we worked as linguists, we asked our partners when their birthday is, and we replied in French.
We had a note card in front of us to remind us of the question to ask.
History
Were the Romans civilised?
Working as Historians, we will learn about the Roman Empire and what led to their success. This will enable us to answer the big question, looking at how the Romans were civilised.
Music
How can the ukulele make different sounds?
This will be our first opportunity to learn more about the ukulele, playing it in different ways and building on our knowledge of playing ocarinas in Key Stage 1.
We spent our lesson today learning about the different parts of the ukulele.
After we had labelled a diagram of it, we practised how to hold the ukulele ready to play it.
PE - Dance
This term, we will be building on our dance knowledge. We will explore following a set routine, before creating our own!






We experimented with creating a dance routine that was based on machinery. We took our inspiration from the movement of levers and cogs.
PSHE
Can your personal strengths and differences change over time?
This term we continue to answer this big question as we build our knowledge further about keeping ourselves healthy through adopting healthy lifestyle choices.
Today, we looked at some pictures of activities, such as cycling by the river.
We worked in pairs to give advice to support people to keep safe in these situations.
RE
What is the Trinity?
This term we continue to explore the Trinity and Incarnation through our study of the Bible and what the Gospels tell us.
Today, we listened to different hymns and listened for the words that were used in John's gospel - Grace, Word, Light. We made a note of the words that could be heard in each song.
After this, we worked in small groups to rewrite silent night to include some of these words - we were very proud of the verses we cam up with!
