Term 2
We hope you had a lovely half term with your families and friends. This is a very exciting term with the lead up to Christmas, the children have so many nice art activities planned which we are sure they will love to show you at Christmas time. Along with this we shall be looking at the following texts: Gingerbread Man, Handa's Surprise and How the Grinch stole Christmas. In Maths we shall be continuing to work on our addition and subtraction skills.
Our subject Big Questions this term are:
Music: Can different instruments create different moods?
PE (Yoga): How can you control your focus?
PE (Gymnastics): How does speed improve sequences?
Design Technology: Can the purpose of a recipe affect the type of ingredients you use?
History: Can one person change the world?
PSHE: Are surprises and secrets the same?
Religious Education: Do you only have to say thank you if you believe in God?
Science: What creates a healthy plant?
PE
The children have enjoyed the beginning of their gymnastics unit where they have been learning about performing a sequence and holding a balance.

History
In history, the children have been learning about what it was like in Victorian hospitals. They found out that they were dirty and diseases spread easily. This will then lead into the children finding out how Florence Nightingale made a lasting impact.


Yoga
The children have enjoyed taking part in yoga lessons this term. They have been learning different about different poses and balances.




Road Safety!
This week has been road safety week. The children have been learning about the importance of keeping safe when in a vehicle. We also recapped our knowledge on how to cross a road safely and then went outside to practise!




Religious Education
In RE this week, we continued with a new Christianity story from the Bible - the burning bush. The children listened to the story again and discussed the key parts; then they brought the story to life using role play in small groups. The children then shared their results with each other!

Maths
In maths the children have been learning how to add two 2 digit numbers. They have used dienes to make both numbers. The children have then exchanged ten ones for a ten if they had more than ten ones.


PSHE
In PSHE, the children have been learning about peer pressure. They have found out what peer pressure is. They then looked at different scenarios and talked about what they would if they were in that situation.
