Science
How and why do the spherical bodies move in our solar system?
Applying some of our learning from our visit to the Space Centre in Leicester, we will continue to learn more about the planets in the solar system. Exploring their movement in relation to the sun and how their spherical shape supports this.
Religious Education
How does the Quran teach believers to follow shariah (straight path)?
This term we explore the belief of the straight path and how it supports the believers in the way they choose to live their life. The Quran teaches Muslims to follow the straight path, which means living a good life by obeying God and doing what is right.
Design Technology
What makes a structure secure?
Working as innovators, we will explore structures and how we can make them stronger with the use of triangulation. We also will concentrate on various types of structures (permanent and temporary) and their properties.
Geography
Do time zones impact communication?
Our first learning as Geographers in year 5, allows us to explore the biomes of the world and how latitude affects them. We will apply our knowledge of coordinates to support us as we identify features of different biomes.
PSHE
Are friendships always positive?
This term we continue to explore different relationships and how we can be good friends in person and online. We will identify ways we can manage our friendships and peer influences and how we can feel safe in relationships, recognising discrimination and prejudice.

This term we build on our knowledge of our family tree as we begin to describe our family and friends using adjectives.
Music
How do descant parts create joy in final parts of carols?
This term we get the wonderful opportunity of performing and leading the Christmas Carol Concert at St Thomas' Church. Focusing on our signing in Music lessons, we will learn songs to sing by heart.
