Term 1
English
Week beginning 08/09/25 - Our focus text this week is The Three Little Pigs. Today we explored the materials the pigs used to build their houses and used vocabulary to describe them. We thought the straw was spikey, bendy and weak. The sticks were bumpy, long and strong. The bricks were solid, rough and rectangular.

We then continued to retell the story and draw our own story map before finally writing our own stories.

Week beginning 15/09/25 - Today, the Kindness class were predicting what our new text could be. We found clues hidden in a large red bag that were related to our new story. Our predictions were correct - our new text is The Little Red Hen.

Week beginning 29/09/25 - This week has all been about Aliens Love Underpants! We have really enjoyed reading our new text. Today we explored character's feelings and developed our vocabulary to describe this. We made freeze frames to show how the characters were feeling.

The Kindness class have since done some fantastic work with adjectives. They have described underpants (left in our classroom by the aliens) and also described the aliens themselves!

Week Beginning 15/09/25- This week we have been learning to recognise numbers written in words, matching the numeral to the name. Also, we have practiced counting forward from any given number and adding one more!

Week beginning 29/09/25 -
This week we have been looking at finding one more and one less. The children have been using cubes and counters to support them in recognising finding one more and one less than a given number.
We have been learning to count backwards! We challenged our partners to start from a given number and continue counting backwards. The numbers were getting one less each time.

The Kindness Class have worked incredibly hard this week at recognising greater than, less then and equal to. We had our very own Teddy Bears' Picnic and gave each character some treats. The children were able to identify who had the most, least and same amount using key vocabulary.
