STEM Day at Boston High School
On Tuesday a few of our year 5 pupils were selected to take part in a STEM Day at Boston High School.
They were given an opportunity to work in groups alongside other schools from the local area to take part in activities related to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths.
Their first task was to design and create a parachute to protect an egg when it was dropped. Our pupils had to choose their own materials and complete the maths to try and make sure that their egg didn't smash.
Another of their challenges was to keep a piece of chocolate cool and protect it from melting when placed into an oven. The students had to use their science skills to choose which materials they believed would be the best at protecting their chocolate.
The final task was to create a bob sleigh with given materials and to see how far it would travel and how fast. They had to work out all of the equations involved including travel, speed, and distance.
At the end of the day, all of our students were awarded with medals.
It was a very enjoyable day for all involved. A massive thank you to Boston High School for inviting us.
