Using the TSP prayer approach, we take it in turns to share our reflections on things we give thanks for, things we say sorry for and those we say please.

Maths

We have started this term focusing on fractions. We have been looking at creating fractions of shapes and looking for equivalents.

Science

How and why do the spherical bodies move in our solar system?

Applying some of our learning from our visit to the Space Centre in Leicester, we will continue to learn more about the planets in the solar system. Exploring their movement in relation to the sun and how their spherical shape supports this.

RE

Islam- Being Human

How does the Quran teach believers to follow shariah (straight path)?

This term we explore the belief of the straight path and how it supports the believers in the way they choose to live their life.

Design Technology

Working as innovators, we will explore structures and how we can make them stronger with the use of triangulation.

Geography

Do time zones impact communication?

Our first learning as Geographers in year 5, allows us to explore the biomes of the world and how latitude affects them. We will apply our knowledge of coordinates to support us as we identify features of different biomes.

PSHE

Relationships

This term we continue to explore different relationships and how we can be good friends in person and online.  We will identify ways we can manage our friendships and peer influences and how we can feel safe in relationships, recognising discrimination and prejudice.

French

Describing people

This term we build on our knowledge of our family tree as we begin to describe our family and friends using adjectives.

Music-Performing

This term we get the wonderful opportunity of performing and leading the Christmas Carol Concert at St Thomas' Church. Focusing on our signing in Music lessons, we will learn songs to sing by heart.

PE

This term we will be learning new Basketball skills and  building on our prior knowledge of Yoga to create our own flow.

Art

We work as specialists in Art this term as we create calendars, cards and paper craft items for our Christmas hoops. 

Using watercolours, we created paintings of poppies as we entered a time of remembrance.
