English - Speeches Week

This was brilliant to see the children become so passionate and animated when they presented their speeches to the class. They had certainly researched well, ordered their thoughts and been persuasive.

PE - Gymnastics 

It did not take long for the children to understand how to travel safely on and off the apparatus. It was exciting to see jumps where they took off using hands and feet and using a squashy knee landing.

Science - Lights and shadows

The children investigated what happened when torch light went closer and further away from objects. They were quick to observe that the shadow  increased in size the closer the light source. They were then able to record their observations. 

PSHE - healthy eating and living

After discussing what people eat and what is recommended for children to help them live a healthy lifestyle, the children designed their own plate. They were surprised by how much fruit and vegetables were suggested for each day.

Maths - multiplying and dividing by 8

To start the year off, the children looked at how to multiply by 8. They were quick to spot that 8 was doubling the 4 times tables. They were able to show this in arrays, count on number lines and recall number facts.
