Term 3

A busy term ahead and one where the children will be able to practise and rehearse their learning across the curriculum. 

 

In Maths this term we embed our knowledge of place value to 50 adding, taking away and measuring length and mass. We will begin by looking at the place value of numbers above 10.

 

In English, we will continue to understand how capital letters and full stops are used through the writing of instructions and writing simple stories based around Look up, Ravi's Roar and Little Red Riding Hood.

 

Maths - 

Today, the children have explored the different ways of making 10 using coloured cubes. As well as using their number bond knowledge, the Kindness class understood that they could add three numbers together to equal ten!

 

 

The Kindness Class have explored numbers to 20, counting forwards and backwards on a number line from a given number. They have represented different amounts and have understood the value of each number. 

 

English - 

 

This week has all been about speeches! The children were sent a letter from the bugs of St Thomas' who desperately needed their help. The Kindness class then created a speech to present to Mr Addcock on how we can protect them during the winter months. 

 

The children wrote down their initial thoughts on how we can help the insects. 

 

Today in English, the Kindness Class have created their very own bug hotel! We have discussed the steps necessary for building a house and will be writing a set of instructions this week.

In our Art lessons this term we will be learning all about drawing and discussing why line is important. The children will be exploring the artwork 'A line going for a walk by Paul Klee, Animals by Pablo Picasso and the Elephant by David Shrigley.

Science - Are we all the same or different?

This term we shall be learning all about animals including humans. We will learn about the different animal groups and talk about the differences between an amphibian, mammal, reptile, bird, fish and insects.

 

PSHE Is everyone special?

Understanding what healthy living is.

PE - Dance

In Dance, the children will discover how their bodies can move at different levels to make their dance interesting. We will explore being the weather and use the music to help keep in time too.
