Term 3

A busy term ahead and one where the children will be able to practise and rehearse their learning across the curriculum. 

 

In Maths this term we embed our knowledge of place value to 50 adding, taking away and measuring length and mass. We will begin by looking at the place value of numbers above 10.

 

In English, we will continue to understand how capital letters and full stops are used through the writing of instructions and writing simple stories based around Look up, Ravi's Roar and Little Red Riding Hood.

 

Today in English, the Gentleness Class have created their very own bug hotel! We have discussed the steps necessary for building a house and will be writing a set of instructions this week. 

 

This week we received a letter from Captain Blue Beard. He asked for our help to write some instructions for making a pirate hat. We followed instructions to make one today and later this week we will write our own instructions. 

Geography -  How is our town special?

Throughout our geography learning we observe and learn about the four seasons. We went on a wintery walk to observe the signs of winter. We listened to the crunchy snow under our feet, watched our warm breath as it left our mouth, felt the cold ice and looked at the bare trees.

 

Art -  Why is line important?

In our Art lessons this term we will be learning all about drawing and discussing why line is important. The children will be exploring the artwork 'A line going for a walk by Paul Klee, Animals by Pablo Picasso and the Elephant by David Shrigley.

Religious EducationWhat do Muslims believe Allah is like?

Today we explored some Islamic artefacts as an introduction to our new topic. We learned some key facts about how Muslims view Allah.

 

We walked to our local church to visit Father David as a retrieval to our previous learning. We explored the church features and listened to the creation story. 

 

Computing - Are instructions important?

 

Science - Are we all the same or different?

This term we shall be learning all about animals including humans. We will learn about the different animal groups and talk about the differences between an amphibian, mammal, reptile, bird, fish and insects.

 

PSHE Is everyone special?

Understanding what healthy living is.

PE - Dance

In Dance, the children will discover how their bodies can move at different levels to make their dance interesting. We will explore being the weather and use the music to help keep in time too. 

In our first session we focussed our dance on the weather. We used different weather types to create different moves. We put the moves together to form a sequence all to the beat of eight.
