Welcome back to Term 5

Hoping everyone had a lovely Easter break!

This term we are going to begin by reading the text 'The Magic Porridge Pot'. In Maths will be focussing on multiplication and division, in Art we will be painting using different colours and shades. We will be learning all about common plants in Science and we look forward to sharing lots of information to parents during our class assembly. So much learning to fit in and hopefully some sunny weather involved too!

 English - We have had so much fun listening to and exploring our new story. The children began by making predictions and the role playing the story using props to help them.

Maths - In Maths this week we have been learning how to count in 2s, 5s and 10s, the children have been using lots of different manipulatives to help them with this counting.

Science - Are all plants and trees the same?

Outside, the children searched for common plants. They were recognised some from photos and then discussed what they looked like before searching the school grounds for them. Many were found and we all then recognised how God has created such a beautiful world.

Geography - What is the United Kingdom?

In Science and Geography this week we have been outside identifying different flowers and then learning all about how to plant different seeds. We have also been talking about spring and how this looks different to the other seasons.  

Art - How do paintings express mood?

In Art this week we have been learning that a painting is an expression of ideas and emotions. We explored the artworks: Water-lily pond by Claude Monet, Bouquet by Henri Matisse, Petunia No.2 by Georgia O’Keeffe and explored the ideas and emotions in the painting.

Computing - How can computers help us draw?

We have started to learn how to log on the laptops and explore the painting tools!

PE- How can you improve your co-ordination?

       How is challenging yourself going to improve you?

PSHE - Does everyone have a strength?

RE -  What do places of worship show about people's belief in their God?

Music - How does singing make people feel?
