At St Thomas CE Primary Academy we are passionate about teaching children how to stay safe on our roads, that's why we are take part in Road Safety Week every year. The children learn about Road Safety as part of their PSHE curriculum, however we take this extra opportunity to really promote making safe and healthy journeys.
'It is important to be aware of everything around you. When we cross the road, we must look both ways and still be paying attention. You could be distracted if you are talking to a friend.' Tilly
The safety of all children in the family of St Thomas' is always our priority. This includes when they are at school, under our care and also when they are at home.
There are some useful websites for you, as parents, to read for guidance and support around the issues of safety. In school all children receive e safety education as part of their computing and PSHE lessons, at a level appropriate to their age and understanding.
More and more parents are becoming aware of the issues surrounding esafety and ask for our advice or to be pointed in the right direction to find more information.

To further educate the children in our school, the Digital Leaders led a very informative assembly to identify the need for E-Safety and taught the children ways of keeping themselves safe. They used videos, images, questions and props to do this successfully.
There are actions parents can take on their home computer to restrict what children do.
Think U know is a fantastic website for you as parents to read for your own information and for you to look at alongside your child.
The site has a wealth of information.
Many parents have been asking about Social Networking Sites .....which ones are 'safe', what children can do on them etc.

If you have any questions at all please speak to your child's teacher or to Miss Ampson our Learning Mentor.
