Welcome to Term 1

This term we will be giving lots of opportunities for the children to settle into their new learning environments, form new friendships and begin to follow and understand our school rules and routines. It has been fantastic to see how much progress they have already made and the lovely friendships starting to build.

Week 2 and 3

The children have made a wonderful start to Reception and have started to settle into their routines. The children have been able to start to build positive relationships, make new friends and develop a strong sense of belonging as part of our St Thomas’ family. Through our continuous provision, the children have been exploring and learning through play. They have been learning about The Colour Monster, and We’re Going on a Bear Hunt and have had lots of fun exploring different activities. The children have been developing their communication and language, confidence, creativity and understanding of the world as they investigate different areas and activities in the classroom. The children have also started to learn their set 1 sounds and are making tremendous progress towards understanding the different sounds. It has been wonderful to see the children develop their confidence, curiosity and independence and begin their school journeys with hope, courage, and enthusiasm.
