Our School
We are a vibrant two-form entry primary school with approximately 400 pupils on roll, proudly serving a richly diverse community. Over a quarter of our pupils are eligible for pupil premium funding, around a quarter speak English as an additional language, and we support a higher-than-national-average proportion of pupils with complex SEND needs. Diversity is one of our greatest strengths and shapes a culture rooted in belonging, aspiration and inclusion.
In Spring 2025, the school was judged Outstanding in all areas, reflecting the ambition, care and expertise that underpin every aspect of our provision. Our curriculum is thoughtfully designed to secure both academic excellence and exceptional personal development, ensuring children are not only successful learners, but confident, compassionate and outward-looking individuals.
At the heart of our school is a deeply embedded vision and set of core values which act as the foundation and anchor for all decision-making. Relationships sit at the centre of our work and leaders champion a relational, coaching-based approach built on trust, dignity and high expectations for every child. Building strong foundations — academically, socially and emotionally — sits firmly at the forefront of leaders’ minds and is truly the heartbeat of our school community.
We are committed to research-led and evidence-informed practice, with a strong culture of professional development, reflection and curriculum innovation. Staff share a collective ambition to continually refine and strengthen provision, driven by the belief that every child deserves the very best start and every opportunity to flourish.
What truly defines our school, however, is the people within it. We are a warm, authentic and deeply committed team of practitioners who care enormously about the children and families we serve. Together, we have created a culture where ambition and nurture sit side by side and where ordinary people achieve extraordinary things through shared values, teamwork and an unwavering commitment to children.
Our Journey Within Early Years
Early Years is a significant strength of our school and provides the foundation upon which children flourish academically, socially and emotionally. Our Early Years provision was also recognised as Outstanding in Spring 2025, reflecting the high-quality experiences, expertise and ambition that define our practice.
Our journey has been shaped by a relentless commitment to ensuring every child receives the very best start to their education. We believe deeply in the transformative power of high-quality Early Years provision and in the importance of creating environments where children feel safe, valued, inspired and successful from the very beginning.
Research-led practice drives continual refinement of our curriculum and provision, with a strong emphasis on communication and language, vocabulary development, early reading, personal development and independence. Staff place great importance on developing rich language and extending children’s vocabulary through high-quality interactions, carefully chosen texts and purposeful curriculum experiences, recognising the powerful role language plays in shaping confidence, understanding and future success.
Through carefully designed learning environments, purposeful interactions and high-quality play, children develop confidence, curiosity, resilience and a genuine love of learning. Children are encouraged to become articulate communicators, curious thinkers and independent learners from the very beginning of their school journey.
High expectations are woven throughout every aspect of the provision, with staff maintaining an unwavering belief that every child can achieve exceptionally well regardless of their starting point. Inclusion is central to our practice and we are particularly proud of the expertise within the team in supporting children with complex SEND needs to thrive alongside their peers.
Early Years is not simply a phase within our school; it is the cornerstone of everything we aspire to achieve for our children. The investment, care and ambition placed into these earliest years reflect our belief that strong foundations have the power to shape futures.
Our Reception Team
Our Reception team is a highly skilled, collaborative and passionate group of professionals who are deeply committed to securing the very best outcomes for every child. Strong relationships between teachers, teaching assistants and senior leaders create a culture of trust, reflection and continual improvement, where everyone works together with shared purpose and collective responsibility.
A particular strength of the team is the close partnership with senior leaders, all of whom are experienced Reception practitioners and leaders themselves. They bring a wealth of expertise, credibility and on-the-ground understanding, ensuring that strategic decisions are rooted firmly in authentic classroom practice and a deep understanding of child development.
The team combines warmth, nurture and relational practice with consistently high expectations and ambitious outcomes for all learners. Children are known well, celebrated as individuals and supported to flourish both academically and personally within an environment where they feel secure, challenged and inspired.
There is a genuine enthusiasm across the team for curriculum development, evidence-informed practice and professional growth. Leaders are deeply committed to getting the very best from staff, creating a professional culture where people feel valued, empowered and motivated to continually develop their practice.
What makes the team truly special is the way in which people work together. There is a shared moral purpose, a collective ambition for children and a deep sense of joy in the work. Together, the team has created a Reception provision where children thrive, foundations are built with care and excellence, and every child is given the opportunity to flourish from the very start of their journey.
