English

The Three Little Pigs

This week we have loved learning the story of the Three Little pigs. We have generated exciting vocabulary to describe the pigs houses and even acted out the story with our friends.

The Little Red Hen - Today we have been predicted what our next text was going to be. We carefully looked at the picture clues and tried to guess what it could be. It is the Little Red Hen!

Aliens Love Underpants -

This week we have predicted what our new story will be . . . Aliens Love Underpants! The children wrote down their predictions using picture clues and have understood how characters may feel throughout the story using freeze frames.

Maths

Number: place value

This week in Maths, the Kindness Class have begun to understand the value of numbers within 10. We have then taken our knowledge further by putting the value into a tens frame.

This week in Maths we have been finding one more than a given number. We took our knowledge to the playground and jumped from a number, calling out all the following numbers.

To take our knowledge further, we used cubes to find one more than a given number and represented this in cubes. We used sentence stems and number lines to support our answers.

The Kindness class have been super busy this week in Maths when counting forward and backwards from a given number. To find one more and one less, we used number lines and cubes to help us.

Science

How can I identify a variety of materials based on their properties?

Which materials can be recycled?

This week we have been exploring our school environment looking for objects that are a range of materials. On our journey we found items made of wood, brick, rubber, fabric and plastic.

This week we have been sorting materials based on their properties. We then used adventurous vocabulary that matched the material.

Art

What is form?

This week we have been exploring the concept of sculpture. We have looked at the Balloon Dog by Jeff Koons and practised drawing similar shapes to recreate the artwork.

Today we looked at the sculpture Brazillian Fish by Alexander Calder. We then had a go at sketching this in our sketchbook and then we replicated the scales by decorating with collage materials.
