8th March overview

In Maths, we will recapping work about fractions of amounts with unit and non unit fractions. Remember to keep up the times tables work too!

In English, we continue to explore writing to inform. Explanation texts are our next focus. Our first activity will be tasting marmalade sandwiches - Paddington's staple diet!

We will move on to identify then use the features and language of this type of text.

Continue with The Explorer, complete the VIPERS questions to show your understanding of Chapter 10.
In Science, we investigate reversible and irreversible changes. Read the power point, then complete one of the investigations it suggests.
RE – Retrieval task and then Who was the Messiah? What did the Gospel say about the Messiah? What did the prophecies say about it? Think about people that surrounded Jesus. What might they have said? Interview some witnesses. Joseph and Mary would have been familiar with the prophecies. Use some imaginative play to explore what it would be like for Mary and Joseph; for example, do a hot-seat activity with Mary and Joseph in the hot seat. Pupils in the role of investigative journalists question them about the events: How do they feel? What might this mean? Does anything scare them? Do they feel privileged? Do they think their son was the Messiah? Why?
PSHE - Use the Ppt to share the objective with the children and discuss the different types of risks. Use slides 5 and 6 to introduce negative and positive risks. Activity – children work in groups to make a bridge. They take risks by adding objects to the bridge – deciding when to add another or to stop. What risks were you taking? How did it make you feel? Did it lead to anything negative? Was adding another a risk worth taking if it proved you had the strongest bridge?
In Geography we are learning about the Pacific Ring of Fire. Research the tectonic plates that cause the instability in this region of the world.
Doodle designs over the windmill. Cut it out and attach together. Then sit down in a quiet room and blow for three seconds. Sit still for three seconds. Repeat with five seconds.
