'Is anyone responsible for the changes to the world?'

Please spend time over the term discussing this question together and take the time to reflect on the changes that you come across as we journey through these unusual times.  You can share your child's ideas by emailing our class email: diversity.remote@infinityacademies.co.uk

English and Whole Class Story time

We recommend 30 minutes of reading a day. Remember this can be split up into smaller chunks throughout the day.

Overview wc 8th February

In English we have lots to do! As usual, handwriting is the first lesson. Then is a fun lesson learning how to use commas to avoid ambiguity (confusion). Wednesday we will publish our leaflets - some home learners have already done this, if so please do the comprehension in the document section. Thursday and Friday we begin to learn a classic poem by heart (see the video for advice and tips on how to memorise text). Everyone can then have longer to practise reciting the poem over half-term if needed. Once you can recite all four verses without looking at the words, please do ask someone to record you and send it to your teacher!
Look on the overview for a link to games to practise this week's spelling words.
For Guided reading this week please read Chapter 6 first. There are no tasks for this chapter, just read and enjoy the text. Then read Chapter 7 and complete the tasks. As always, if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

Look at the text from Isaiah 53. What are you imagining this person looks like? Draw an outline large scale of a body and  suggest on the inside what the servant has done or not done. Then find out what the phrases mean and explain how Jesus may be seen as a suffering servant.

Tuesday 9th February is Internet Safety day so we are focusing on e-safety for this day. This year we are exploring reliability on the online world, as it is very important to know whether you can trust what you see online. This will help develop your critical thinking skills and remind you not to take what you see at face value - you must ask questions about how reliable information is. There are activities for you to complete at the end of the PDF.

In Science we have learned about animal life cycles and now we will learn about a plant cycle. Read the information, which focuses on the bean plant life cycle, then answer the questions to show your understanding.

This power point (also in PDF form) provides lots of information about how the UK trades. Throughout there are short activities for you to do to show you understand the different areas of trading and settlements.

Music

Building upon the last few week’s, we will now start understanding how to read rhythm. https://classroom.thenational.academy/lessons/reading-simple-rhythms-c5h3ad

Mindfulness

You will need a new raisin each day

Take a raisin – Monday Look at it for 2mins, Tuesday Feel it for 2 mins, Wednesday Smell it for 2 mins, Thursday Have it in your mouth (do not eat it) Friday Eat it (chew for 2mins)

Discuss how the focus was all on the raisin. What happened to your senses throughout this?
