Hello 5C, Tolerance class!
Well, we hoped we would make it to the end of term but unfortunately we won't be together again until after Christmas. It can't be helped, and luckily we have technology to help us stay connected! You can contact me on the Contact Teacher section to let me know how you are doing and ask if you have any questions.
I will update this page regularly so you have work to do for the rest of the term, I wouldn't like you to be bored! On a serious note, please do the work set as you need this term's learning to go on to do next term's learning. Please do email me any work you would like to share, I would love to see it!
Friday fun challenge - Geography quiz!
We have been practising using the bus stop method for division, using practical resources such as numicon and counters. Your times tables are incredibly useful for this! If you still don't know all of your times tables then use this time to practise them, knowing them makes division so much easier. (You will also need times tables when learning about fractions, which will be in January).
Friday's maths challenge involves using your CGP book. On page 24 is written multiplication, multiplying by 2 digits which we have been practising in class so it is retrieval for you! If you have any problems, first think about the turtle, then contact me for help, by asking your adult to use the booking system to book ten minutes to talk to me about it or email me any questions.
For anyone who has not got their CGP book, here is the multiplication page for today.

Guided Reading Friday
Here is an exciting text about Space Travel, read the text (if you would like to listen to me read it aloud while you follow along, go to the Video Resource Centre) then answer the questions. In the video I will go through the questions and answers.
Guided reading - Thursday
Today we are going to explore a poem, using our VIPERS skills. The text is here as a Word document, a pdf and it is on the power point. On the power point I explain the tasks you can do to show you understand the text. You can go to the Video Resource Centre to listen to me read the poem and then rewind the video to read along with me. I also tell you the answers to the tasks in the video.
For English this week, hopefully you have now written your tension filled section (if not, there is a power point to help you, read that then write about the aliens attacking in the exercise book provided in your pack.
Attached is the power point of the last two chapters of The War of the Worlds. You can read the ending on the power point or follow along with me reading it on the video in the Video Resource Centre. You need to know the ending of this book and then can start thinking of your own ending for your narrative! Next week, how to finish your story is what we will be working on.
In Science we will be investigating the effects of friction. Perhaps you could devise an investigation to see compare how friction affects different shoes moving on the floor? use the power point to help you understand the force of friction first.
As we continue through Advent, we are thinking about the Christingle Service here at school on Thursday. Can you make your own Christingle at home? Can you find out what the different parts are symbolising and representing. Create your own information leaflet or poster about it.
Can you remember what a secret is? have you ever been in a situation where you know the secret needed to be shared? How did you feel at the time? Who could you tell? Can you design a leaflet to help other children understand about this.
