March 22nd Overview

In Maths, please use the overview to direct you onto the right CPG books and pages. Our focus will be angles. Please keep up with the challenges on Ed Shed. There are a range available.

In English this week, we begin with a reading comprehension - an exciting extract from The Iron Man, found in your CGP books (see the overview for instructions). From Tuesday we will be putting into practise all our learning about explanation texts to write one independently.

This week, we will begin with a short text about Ancient Egyptians. Please read this aloud adn time yourself, can you read 90 words or more in 60 seconds?

On Tuesday, we are back in the intrepid world of The Explorer! Read Chapter 11, then answer the VIPERS questions about it (check the dates on the document, complete one set of questions each day).

Use slide 4 to review learning from last week and then use slide 5 onwards to discuss medical emergencies and first aid. The slides cover various forms or first aid for minor injuries. Watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNxNIsQ_SzY (Operation Ouch) Children to choose scenario and act out the steps support them. Model to the rest of the class. Did the children understand what to do? Create a set of instructions to administer first aid.
Watch the BBC Teach video Life in the Polar Regions (the link is on the power point) and take notes. Then create your own fact-file of information about life in the coldest places on Earth.
Read the scenario, which sets the scene for separating substances, then follow the instructions on the power point.

RE

RE – Find out what Christians do at Christmas: all the usual celebrations, with presents and so on. How do some Christians bring peace, good news, and show Jesus’ love to others at Christmas? You might want to look at the work of www.presentaid.org/ or Christmas dinner on Jesus www.urbanoutreach.co.uk/christmasdinneronjesus. Create a script about the conversation that would be held around the dinner table at Christmas for Christians and non- Christians.
