Overview for wc 22nd February

Exciting news - this term Paddington Bear will be helping us with our learning! Can you work out Paddington's connection with our theme of South America?

We begin the week with handwriting - we are seeing some amazing results when you focus on your handwriting, so well done if you are one of the children determined to improve!

My favourite comes up on Tuesday - Big Write! You have a picture to start you off, then you finish the story - let your imagination run wild!

Wednesday and Thursday begin our writing to inform journey, with Paddington Bear. We have a SPaG focus on Friday to help with this form of writing.

We are moving on to Chapter 9 this week so if you have not yet read Chapter 8 (which you were asked to read over half-term), please do that first. In Chapter 9 they discuss the significance of what Fred found in the previous chapter, then his adventurous spirit leads him to find something else - something they are overjoyed about!

Read the text and hunt out the phrases that tell you the Messiah will be coming. Christians believed that Jesus was the rescuer, the Messiah. Using the these phrases can you design a WANTED poster for a Messiah. Think about the phrases you have found as part of the job description.
In Science we will be learning about the different properties of materials, building on previous work in this area. There will be plenty of opportunities for practical work this term - we begin by investigating how materials are classified.
Our theme for this term is South America, so we need to know the basics - such as which countries make up this continent, where are they located and what are the names of their capital cities? Practise your atlas skills by labelling the map. (If you do not have an atlas at home then you can use the internet). If you have any problems accessing a map, please let me know.
Watch the video in the Resource Centre and sort the foods the teacher likes and doesn’t like.

Mindfulness

Read and colour all the sayings on the sheet. Take time to reflect on what you have accomplished already this year.

Use slides 10-14 to discuss content for keeping safe and understanding responsibilities. Read the scenarios and think of ways of dealing with the situation.
