Term 6

What makes a family?

Our final term! This will be a very busy and exciting term for the children, lots of fun events and activities will be taking place, including our first school trip! and transition into year one. In Maths this term we shall be consolidating what we have learnt over the year. In Literacy we shall be looking at the texts 'The Three Little Pigs' and 'The Gingerbread Man' and then moving on to non-fiction writing. We shall also have lots of fun learning all about dinosaurs and zoo animals.

We had a great start to the term, the children have been very excited to be starting the learn lines and songs for our class assembly performance of ‘The Gingerbread Man’.

We took part in the Poetry Slam where the children performed animal themed poetry, the children put actions to their and looked at how they could use their voice to enhance the performance.

In Maths the children have been looking at number lines, the children were fantastic with the quirky recall of their numbers. We then looked at missing numbers, and what knowledge we could use to help us work out which numbers are missing. The children used whiteboards on pegs in a line and then set challenges for each other by rubbing off numbers and then their friends had to fill in the missing numbers.

In Literacy as well as verbally retelling and performing the children have been re telling the story of ‘The Gingerbread Man’ by writing about the beginning, middle and end. The children have been looking at how we use a capital letter at the start of the sentence a full stop at the end. Great work class Love!
