English

This term in English, we will be studying biographies through Hidden Figures, exploring the remarkable lives and achievements of Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson. Children will develop their reading, research and writing skills as they learn how biographies are structured and how to present information clearly in chronological order. Inspired by these pioneering women, pupils will write their own biographies, focusing on key events, achievements and the impact individuals can have on the world.

Maths

This term in Maths, children will be developing their understanding of place value, building confidence in reading, writing, ordering and comparing numbers. They will explore the value of each digit within a number, use number lines and practical resources to deepen their understanding, and apply their knowledge when solving reasoning and problem-solving activities. A secure understanding of place value will provide a strong foundation for the mathematical learning that follows throughout the year.

Religious Education

This term in RE, children will be learning about Hinduism, one of the world's oldest religions. They will explore Hindu beliefs, key stories, important deities and festivals, and consider how faith influences the lives of Hindu people today. Through discussion, reflection and enquiry, pupils will develop their understanding of different beliefs and values, while learning to respect and appreciate diversity within our wider community.

Science

This term in Science, children will be learning about forces and how they affect the movement of objects. They will investigate different types of forces, including pushes, pulls, friction and gravity, and explore how these forces act in everyday life. Through practical investigations and scientific enquiry, pupils will make predictions, carry out fair tests and record their findings, developing both their scientific knowledge and investigative skills.

History

This term in History, children will explore the exciting story of the Space Race, learning how the competition between the United States and the Soviet Union led to some of the greatest achievements in space exploration. They will investigate key events, including the launch of the first satellite, the first human journey into space and the Apollo 11 Moon landing. Through examining historical sources and significant individuals, pupils will develop their understanding of how these events shaped our world and inspired future scientific discoveries.

Computing 

This term in Computing, children will explore how to build and maintain a positive online reputation. They will learn about safe and responsible online behaviour, considering how their actions, comments and shared content can leave a lasting digital footprint. Through discussions and practical activities, pupils will develop their understanding of online safety, privacy and respectful communication, helping them become responsible and confident digital citizens.

Art

This term in Art, children will study the work of Edgar Degas, exploring how he captured movement and expression in his artwork. Inspired by his famous sculptures and drawings of dancers, pupils will develop their observational skills and experiment with a range of sculpting techniques. Using different materials, they will design and create their own three-dimensional sculptures, focusing on form, balance and movement while developing their creativity and artistic confidence.

PSHE

This term in PSHE, children will explore the question, “Are friendships always positive?” They will discuss what makes a healthy friendship, the qualities of a good friend, and how positive relationships can support our wellbeing. Pupils will also learn how to recognise and respond to challenges within friendships, including conflicts, peer pressure and unkind behaviour. Through discussion and reflection, children will develop their communication skills, empathy and resilience, helping them build and maintain positive relationships with others.

French

This term in French, children will learn how to talk about their family tree, identifying and describing different family members using key French vocabulary. They will practise speaking, listening, reading and writing skills through a range of engaging activities, learning how to introduce relatives and explain family relationships. Pupils will build their confidence in using simple sentences in French while developing their understanding of French language and culture.
