Year Four Courage Class

Dear Children and Parents,

Recently we added a plan of various activities for you to complete should you choose, along with various links to games and activities.  Many of you have shared with us that you are reading each day which is fantastic!  As we approach the Easter holidays this will not be updated as we want you to enjoy spending time with your families and hopefully some Easter sunshine.  However from April 20th you will find a new overview to help you with your learning.

Hello Courage Class!

I hope you are all enjoying your time at home as much as you are able and that you're all well.

I have had a few parents contact me asking for suggestions of things to do so you're not spending too long online!

Click on the Home Learning star above and I will add in some ideas of things that don't rely on iPads and internet.

If you need anything, please use the 'contact your teacher' button and ask questions or let me know how you are! Feel free to send photos of your work too and I can share them on the class page to inspire your friends.

Remember to keep yourselves safe- I can't wait to hear about what you've been up to and see some of your work.

We are Courage Class

We are class courage.

Courage is the virtue that we have chosen because we know that at times it is important to be brave and to have resilience in new situations. We have had lots of discussions and we came to the conclusion that it is really important for us to stand up for what we believe in and show courage.

We know that it is important to learn to show courage in lots of different situations. For example- in the playground, online and in life situations when sometimes we need to stand up for what we believe in and challenge others. Courage is at the core of all that we do- without courage we would never be challenged and never be able to face challenges.

One of the stories from the Bible that we believe shows courage is that of David and Goliath. Davis stands up for his beliefs and shows great courage in facing Goliath without armour or traditional weaponry.

Here are our two class representatives who announced our virtue to the rest of the school.

Deuteronomy 31:6

Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you.

A big welcome to our class page. We can't wait to share our learning with you- so make sure you check back regularly to find out what we have been up to.

After a great start to Year Four exploring the Anglo Saxon and Viking raiders and settlers, we can't wait to get started with our learning about Europe in the Spring Term.

Our European Neighbours

Who is our neighbour?

Beginning with exploring the teaching of Jesus about who our neighbours are, we will then continue by exploring our European neighbours.

Focusing on our Geography skills, we will be retrieving our knowledge of Great Britain and the seven continents of the world before exploring Europe in detail. Identifying countries, their capital cities, flags, key features- both human and physical, we will identify some of the similarities and differences between the countries that make up Europe. I'm sure some of the members of our class can be lead learners as we look at some of the countries their families originate from.

Our Science learning will be about electricity, creating circuits, identifying the key elements needed for them to be successful and how we can be safe when using electricity will all be covered, enabling us to apply our learning to our DT learning this term.

RE this term focuses on Creation and Christianity. We will be reflecting on our wonderful world, how it was created and finding awe and wonder around us. Looking at Christian belief in how the world was created, we will be exploring ways we can look after creation.

PE will be on Monday and Wednesday each week, but please make sure your kit is in school each day as we like to get out and be active as much as we can.

Our class novel is, Why the Whales Came by Michael Morpurgo, which we will be exploring in guided reading and as our class novel. Please ask us about it!
