To consolidate our learning about rounding we played a game of always, sometimes, never. This really made us think about our rounding and how we explain it to others.
"I think 3658 always round to 4000," suggested Lucy.
"But, when we round it to 10 it would be 3660, not 4000," explained Demi, "Therefore I think it only rounds to 4000 sometimes, when it's rounded to 1000."
699,999 rounds to 700,000.
This suggestion proved very interesting! Can you explain why?
After this initial discussion, all of the children thought carefully about their rounding before sorting the cards correctly.
